1H stands for “one handed weapon”. These cardboard model replicas of weapons from World of Warcraft come from ready-made templates downloadable from Bartholl’s website. These replicas of virtual items are meant to be carried around in everyday life without being used.

Dust (2011)

A 3D-printed, reduced scale concept model of the FPS Counter-Strike (1999) Dust map (de_dust), a virtual gaming environment. This map is one of the most popular in the game with a high frequency of shared experience and familiarity amongst gamers. This has led to a place that does not exist being discussed as if it were real. Bartholl’s intention is to tap into this idea by making the virtual, physical.
